Taylor IP Successfully Obtains a Valuable Patent for Schott

Taylor IP represents clients around the world, including Schott, manufacturers of specialty glass and glass-ceramics. U.S. Patent No. 12017943 B2 entitled “Structured Plate-like Glass Element And Process For The Production Thereof”, was recently issued. We are pleased and honored to have successfully obtained this valuable IP protection for our client.

Schott Structured Plate-Like Glass Element Patent

This invention is designed for making small devices used in electronics and microfluidics. It allows for creating pathways in glass that can be filled with conductive material for electrical connections or used to guide fluids. The rounded dents in these pathways help materials stay in place and reduce fluid resistance. One application is in MEMS components, such as pressure sensors, where the glass piece connects to a cap that changes shape under pressure.
