Patent for Tamper-Resistant Electrical Outlet

Taylor IP obtains patent for client Group Dekko, Inc. on Modular Electrical Receptacle. This invention is a special electrical outlet designed to prevent tampering. It includes parts where plug prongs are inserted, a housing that holds these parts and keeps them electrically isolated, and a tamper-resistant mechanism that slides within the housing.

The tamper-resistant mechanism won’t move if only pressed one side of it near one of the prong slots. This ensures that only a proper plug can be inserted, enhancing safety by preventing accidental or intentional insertion of foreign objects. The design is versatile and can be used in different versions of the outlet. It also ensures that an unbalanced force, like pressing with a single object, won’t move the tamper-resistant mechanism to an open position, reducing the risk of electrical shocks or short circuits. This type of outlet is particularly useful in hospitals, and could also be used in office, commercial or industrial environments.
